Syesha Mercado – No. 3 on Season 7 – will appear on Broadway. According to HollywoodScoop.com, Mercado has been cast as Deena Jones in the stage production of “Dreamgirls.” The role of Deena was made famous by Beyonce, who co-starred with Jennifer Hudson in the movie version.

Former “American Idol” contestant Syesha Mercado (third place, last season) sings the national anthem the before the opening day baseball game between the Oakland Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif., Monday.
