First Paula … now Simon

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Simon makes it official: This is his last season on “American Idol.” In the 2011, he will be judge and executive producer of “X Factor” in the United States. He says he’s confident “American Idol” will survive without him.

But will it? Do we tune in for the performers? Do we tune in for the judges? Can it survive with Randy, Kara, Ellen and Ryan?

I think that won’t be determined until we see how many people show up on audition days. But if Simon’s “X Factor” is a huge hit in the fall, it will have a direct impact on “Idol” in the spring. It will definitely be overkill of two similar shows and one will suffer. With Simon on X Factor and possibly joined by Paula … it sure seems more intriguing, doesn’t it?

I’d like to see “Idol” go more than 10 years … but let’s not worry about the future. We’ll concentrate on 2010 with the current cast of judges. Let “American Idol 2010″ begin!

What about Paula?

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

So what do you think … can Idol survive without Paula? I’ve heard that maybe it can survive without Paula, Randy and Kara, but could not survive without Simon. My guess is that Simon will sign a new contract and return ONLY if they bring back Paula, especially since Simon said that he made it clear that he wanted Paula to return. Personally, I’d like to see her stay, too. Stay tuned… only days remain until they begin to view auditions.

No contract yet?

Monday, July 6th, 2009

An article in an entertainment online site indicates that “American Idol” judges are still in negotiations with contract talks. The judges go on the road in September, so they still have a few months to work on dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.

What would you do with the judges?
- Return all four?
- Only have three judges?
- Which judges would you remove?
- Which judges would you keep?

Let’s here it from you …

Sexiest reality stars of 08-09 – where’s Alexis?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

BuddyTV.com has posted its “40 Sexiest Reality Stars of the 2008-2009 Season” and a few “American Idol” contestants – and one judge – have made the list. In fact, one “Idol” singer is No. 1!

TV American Idol 36Visit BuddyTV to see where they’re ranked, but I can tell you the following people are on the list: judge Kara DioGuardi; singers Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. How in the world Megan Joy found herself on the list is beyond me. I’ll continue to say that little Alexis Grace (right) is much sexier than Megan Joy and they could have put her in this top 40, especially after her “Dirty Diana” performance.

I wonder what Simon would say: He’s not on the list!

Simon goes on Oprah

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Cowell American IdolOn Monday’s “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Simon Cowell said he thinks Adam will win this season of “American Idol.” This is not a shock because Simon has said before that he believes Adam and Danny will be in the final show competing against each other.

According to an Associated Press story, Cowell told Oprah that his money is on Lambert because the contestant is fearless, unique and “he’s got swagger.”

So this means that tonight, we’ll hear nothing but praise for Lambert once again from Mr. Cowell. I’d like to see Simon really challenge Adam at least once this season.

Is Simon happy on Idol?

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Simon appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and said that Kara DioGuardi will return next season on Idol, although he doesn’t like the four-judge set-up. He also voiced his displeasure at Ryan Seacrest’s staircase entrance each week, and once again talked about how much he enjoys Adam Lambert.

Simon’s comments make me wonder how much fun he is having this year on Idol. Read about his “Ellen” appearance at People Magazine’s website.
