I read a couple of interesting articles online today. One said that Elton John was rumored as a person of interest to replace Simon Cowell as a new judge next season. Another post had Ryan Seacrest doubling as both host and judge. Personally, I wouldn’t let Seacrest touch judging with a 10-foot pole. Elton John would be a great choice. He knows the business, for sure. I wonder if he would be able to be a frank with auditionists and contestants as Simon. But that’s one judge that may fit in well with Randy, Kara and Ellen.

According to an Associated Press article, Ryan Seacrest — at age 34 — has signed a new deal that keeps him hosting “American Idol” through 2012 as well as participating in new projects.
The Hollywood Reporter said the Seacrest’s deal would pay him $45 million.
Besides “American Idol,” Seacrest, is host of the radio countdown show “American Top 40,” as well as a nationally syndicated radio show for Clear Channel’s 102.7 KIIS-FM. He also executive produces and co-hosts “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” and holds the titles of managing editor and lead anchor of E! Entertainment News.
