Last season’s “Idol” finalist Danny Gokey is releasing his first album – titled “My Best Days” – and it’s in stores today.
The 29-year-old former church music director returns to the show on Thursday to perform his single “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.”
Gokey, the finalist with the stylish glasses, started the charity Sophia’s Heart Foundation in memory of his late wife, Sophia, who was his inspiration to try out for “Idol.”

I think I saw imitations of some “South Park” characters, maybe a little Adam Sandler and not sure but there could be other imitations as well. Wow, it was sure funny to watch … I had to watch it again! (I’ll warn you that the intro kind of makes you jump because it’s so loud.)
New music from former Idol finalist Danny Gokey. It had about 4,000 downloads last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. I think I enjoyed his first single – “It’s Only – a lot more than this tune. But hopefully Gokey’s best days are ahead: His new CD is due in March.
OK, comments are on this time. I failed to launch the comments section yesterday after the show. Argh! Sorry about that. Well, now here’s your chance to comment …
Tonight was Danny Gokey’s night. I really believe that. In my mind, he was the only contestant to have two great singing performances tonight. Kris had his “moment” with a great acoustic version of “Heartless” and Adam had a couple of OK performances.
More entertaining, however, were the judges tonight. I like Kara, but I found her very annoying. I thought that Randy, for a change, was spot-on tonight with his critiques. Paula was … well, Paula. And Simon was so high on Adam that he even gave a promotional speech to voters at the end of the show. He told voters not to assume that Adam will be in the finals and viewers should go and vote. Next time, bring a sign, Simon, that says “Vote for Adam!” and then in really small letters (promoted by Simon Cowell, judge for American Idol)
My comments about tonight’s show as the performances happened: (more…)
The final eight “American Idol” contestants will sing tune’s from the year they were born on Tuesday evening. So what you will be seeing is a 1980s performance, except from Allison, who is 16 years old. Danny Gokey is the oldest and he was born in 1980.
