On May 27, Lil Rounds returned to Memphis, Tenn., with a parade and lots of special recognition. This video is from the Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper’s “Appeal TV”:
“American Idol” judge and songwriter Kara DioGuardi – as noted in an earlier post of this blog – stars in her first ever music video on the new hit song from the band Theory of a Deadman title “Not Meant To Be.” (Look under the Video category.)
Kara talks about being in the video on her website, so check it out on her home page. Also after the video on her home page, be sure to click on the “About Me” section and read all about this first-year “AI” judge.
Remember Jason Castro from Season 7? He was on “Idol Wrap” recently and sang his tune “Love Uncompromised.” Probably would have been a lot better without the singer next to him, but still a pretty decent effort.
Also in attendance at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Association Awards was Kellie Pickler, who was the sixth place finisher during the fifth season of “American Idol.” Pickler is on tour with Taylor Swift and the two appear to be best friends. In fact, Pickler’s single and video of “Best Days of Your Life” features Swift playing the guitar and singing. The video is funny in typical Pickler fashion and the song is good, too.
“American Idol” castoff Jorge Nunez talked with MTV.com about his time on the singing competition, and also comments on judge Simon Cowell’s “Bad” comment.

“Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi made her music video debut in the single “Not Meant To Be,” by the group Theory of A Deadman. DioGuardi also co-wrote the song.
It’s a great tune and should climb up the charts rather quickly. As far as DioGuardi, she looks absolutely fabulous … now if she could only stray away from her “holy god,” “my god” and “ridiculous” phrases during her judging duties, I’d be even more happy.
I downloaded the Michael Johns/Brooke White duet “Life is Okay” off iTunes the other day. The tune is found on the new Shaun White documentary soundtrack, “Don’t Look Down.”
It’s got the signature Johns’ bluesy feel along with the piano-playing White. The “Idol” alums sound great on the tune. I haven’t found any kind of “official” music video, but you can certainly give it a listen by watching the slideshow video below.
Don’t forget to post your comments about the song.
I was browsing around the Internet at old “Idol” performers and came across this classic of Blake Lewis singing “You Give Love A Bad Name” during the May 1, 2007 episode. His performance still makes me smile when I watch it. Truly, it was original, risky and fun! I wonder if our current group of “Idols 2009″ will be able to come up with something original throughout the season.
Taylor Hicks, the 2006 “American Idol” winner, will release a new CD – titled “The Distance” – which will be released on March 10. The first single from the new CD is titled “What’s Right is Right.”
Hicks is found all over the Internet, including on ImeenMusic and YouTube along with his official social network pages on both Facebook and MySpace.
While this may not be a top 20 hit, I’ve gotta tell you, the more I listen to this song, the more I like it… especially the saxophone toward the end of the tune!
