The best Idol group ever?

There’s been a lot of discussion based on this question: Which group of finalists is the best ever on “American Idol.”

In looking over all of the finalists in the past eight seasons, it is a tough choice. You can make an argument for a lot of these groups. For instance, I initially thought Season 5 was weak because Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee were Nos. 1 and 2. But look at the others in the semifinals: Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington and Mandisa – they have all had hit records; and Kevin “Chicken Little” Covais co-starred in the 2008 comedy film, “College,” as a character named Morris. So this group turned out pretty solid and maybe is one of the top.

OK, I heard some comments that some people don’t like Adam because he shrieks too much when he sings. I’ve actually posted that previously, too. But the more I watch him, the more I see that it’s simply part of who he is.

Will Simon leave ‘American Idol’?

A story in London’s The Mirror says there is a possibility that Simon Cowell may leave “American Idol” after his contract end following next season’s show.

Currently, Cowell is on “Britain’s Got Talent” and “X Factor,” along with “American Idol,” and he has indicated that the travel has been a bit much. The Mirror quoted Cowell saying, “Most people do one show a year and I do three and they involve a lot of traveling. One may have to go. I don’t know which one. That is the problem, I like all of them. I can’t imagine not doing ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and I can’t imagine not doing ‘X Factor.’ But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end.”

Remember early in the year, “Idol” brought in Kara DiGuardio and the rumor was that she was eventually replacing Paula Abdul … maybe she’s going to replace Simon? Just a thought…
