Report: Paula may not return to ‘Idol’

Monday, July 20th, 2009

In a Los Angeles Times article, Paula Abdul’s new manager says she doesn’t have a proposal for a new contract and says it doesn’t appear she’ll be back.

Auditions for the ninth season of ‘Idol’ begin next month.

Two interesting sentences caught my attention in the article:

1. Earlier this year, Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly called Abdul “an integral part of the show.”

2. According to the article, Abdul’s new manager began representing her a few weeks ago.

Read into it how you wish …

Daughtry singing ‘Poker Face’

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

No kidding, Chris Daughtry performed Lady GaGa’s song “Poker Face” for a radio station in Germany. Follow this link to watch – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqT4VnnEU0M

Daughtry also has a new CD out and the first single is “No Surprise” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANU7j3OLq6w

I listened to bits of all of the songs on this CD titled “Leave This Town” and there are several more hits here. Looks like another big seller for Idol’s Season 5 fourth-place finalist.

Brooke White’s new CD

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Brooke White – fifth place in Season 7 – has a new CD titled “High Hopes & Heartbreak,” which was released on July 14. I flipped through the songs on iTunes and the sound is pure, vintage 70s-style music. You keep hearing about the similarities between her and Carly Simon and I can definitely hear it in her music. But yet, she still has that Brooke White style. The CD is loaded with piano and guitar playing and nothing else; songwriting appears strong as well. I think I’m going to like this CD. Today’s music has so much electronics behind the singers, you can’t tell if they’re truly pure singers. I believe Brooke is a special singer-songwriter. By the way, the CD was produced by none other than Randy Jackson.

Here is the video of her single, “Radio Radio” – love that smile!

No contract yet?

Monday, July 6th, 2009

An article in an entertainment online site indicates that “American Idol” judges are still in negotiations with contract talks. The judges go on the road in September, so they still have a few months to work on dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.

What would you do with the judges?
- Return all four?
- Only have three judges?
- Which judges would you remove?
- Which judges would you keep?

Let’s here it from you …
