Former Idol finalist Carly Smithson has a new band – We Are the Fallen – and their single is “Bury Me Alive.” Below is the video. It’s pretty intense, too. What do you think of the vocals?
Fox said in a statement Monday that the age eligibility to audition for the upcoming 10th season of “American Idol” would be lowered from 16 to 15 years old. The maximum age to audition remains 28. Click here to read the story.
Idol finalist David Archuleta joins the all-star cast headlining “A Capitol Fourth” concert, which will be broadcast live from the west lawn of the Capitol.
“American Idol” winner Lee DeWyze poses with Minnie and Mickey Mouse on Monday at “The American Idol Experience” attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Lee DeWyze picks up the victory tonight for Season 9 of American Idol.
Again, as mentioned before, both will have hit records, but I really believe Crystal will have a lengthy run as a recording artist. Was I disappointed my fellow Ohioan didn’t win? Yes. I live about an hour from Toledo, so this was a special time for this area. I thought overall she had the better singing voice and is better suited for a big-selling record.
With that said, Lee continues a run of male “American Idol” winners, with Kris Allen and David Cook as the last two. I’m still waiting for an “American Idol” winner to have a career like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson.
Overall, though, tonight’s show was absolutely fantastic … especially for those of us who grew up listening to music in the 1980s. Look, we got to see Alice Cooper, the Bee Gees, Michael McDonald, Chicago, Hall & Oates and Bret Michaels of Poison, along with current artists Christina Aguileria and Alanis Morissette.
Here are a few highlights tonight for me:
1. Crystal singing with Alanis Morissette. Superb! They sounded so similar.
2. Carrie Underwood singing her new single “Undo It.” Wow! What a song and what a voice! Definitely the next hit for her.
3. Lee singing with Chicago for a medley of their tunes.
4. Watching all of the previous Idols (except David Cook) enter the stage singing, and joined by a host of other former Idol contestants.
5. Seeing Bret Michaels on stage after recent serious medical conditions.
Here are a few lowlights tonight for me:
1. Crystal not winning.
2. Why did they have to bring William Hung back on stage? Let Gen. Platt do his “Pants on the Ground” by himself!
3. Paula – yes it was nice to see her, but after watching her on stage tonight, I know now why I didn’t miss her all that much.
4. Dane Cook’s tribute to Simon’s insults through a song was not funny and kind of awkward.
5. Janet Jackson. Her song wasn’t that great; her dancing was great as usual, but I was wondering if she was lip syncing “Nasty Boys.”
So, another year down and now we wait for a few items:
1. Who will replace Simon?
2. Who will be the judges with Simon on “The X Factor” in the fall?
3. Who will have the bigger hit single before the end of the year: Lee or Crystal?
Thanks for reading throughout the season. Stay tuned for Idol news and pictures throughout the year!
You see, being a judge on “American Idol” has its advantages! Ellen DeGeneres announced on her show today that she is starting a record label titled eleveneleven. And apparently, her first act will be 12-year-old Greyson Chance, who has appeared on her show after becoming a YouTube sensation with his performance of Lady GaGa’s “Parparazzi.”
